We are still looking for someone with a pickup truck to move mulch from the
township bldg to the school on Saturday. I am guessing 2 loads and they
close at 10 so it will be done early.

Everyone,

We will not have a pack meeting in April. Instead, we will be doing the
following two activities:

This Saturday, April 18th 10am: Service project at East Pikeland Elementary.
We will be finishing the project that we started in the fall. We will be
laying down mulch, doing any weeding that is necessary and planting some
wildflowers to go with the grasses and other plants we put in before. Please
come ready to work with shovels, rakes, gloves etc.We are in need of a
pickup truck to get a load or two of mulch from the township, and also a
small rototiller. If you can help with either of these, please contact Keith
Hollander. We do have access to a small trailer that we could use instead of
a pickup if there is anyone who has a car with a trailer hitch. Remember
that service is an important part of scouting. We appreciate everyone's
help.

Annual Pack 170 Camping Trip Friday, May 1st - Sunday May 3rd: This is a big
event that the scouts always enjoy. This year, we will be staying in two
lodges at Camp Horseshoe in Rising Sun, MD, just over the PA/MD border.
Please see the attachment for tentative schedule, directions and menu. The
cabins have bathrooms and kitchens, so it is a nice easy introduction to
camping for Cub Scout age boys. We will be sleeping on cots, but they do not
have mattresses. I recommend bringing a pad or small air mattress if you
have one. We will bring some cardboard pieces to lay on the cots as well.
We recommend Tigers come on Saturday morning and stay one night. If your
Tiger son has been away before and you think he would like two nights, he is
certainly welcome to come Friday.

For the last few years, Dave Poloway and I have gone on a food run to
Costco. Since this is the last year in the pack for both of us, I am looking
for a volunteer or two to help this year. This is a good way for a parent to
help out on a once a year basis that only takes an hour or so. It would
greatly ease the transition next year. Contact me if you can help.

Please be sure to have your rocket kit assembled and ready to go. If you
have any questions about your kit, contact Kevin Lavigne, official pack
rocketeer.

Cost for the trip is $15 for scouts and $10 for adults. The cost includes a
pack t-shirt for the scouts. If any adults would like a shirt, include an
extra $5. Tell your den leaders what size shirts you need.

Knife Policy - Boys who have earned their Whittling Chip may bring a small
pocketknife to the campout. They must have their Whittling Chip card with
them. They may not take the knife out of their pocket unless directed by a
leader. Any parent that witnesses any sort of violation of this policy may
confiscate the knife and give it to a leader for the remainder of the
weekend. All scouts that bring a knife should be reminded of this policy and
told that there will not be any second chances.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
